Jillian Dolan
Jillian Dolan is an illustrator and comic creator living and working in Treaty 7 territory. The primary artist of Nihilist Dinosaur Comics, she has chewed on more pens than can reasonably be counted, and lost more erasers than seems realistically feasible. She has ingested enough permanent black ink to have developed an immunity.
She attended some schools, none of which will openly claim her. She appreciates the patience and tolerance of the Alberta University of the Arts faculty, where she is studying for a Bachelor of Design in Illustration & Character Design, with a Comics minor. She also appreciates whoever keeps letting her mentor with the Aahwaatkamooksi Indigenous Peer Mentorship.
A founding member of Sketch Sessions, an ongoing twice-monthly artist meetup in Calgary, she advocates for accessibility, barrier-less programming and communal care in the arts. Jillian also continues to organize field trips and events for the Dead Bird Society, which is honestly less macabre than it sounds.
No-one has stopped her curating, sculpting or animating yet, so she keeps doing that too.
A member of the Metis Nation of Alberta, Jillian is Cree, Metis and Settler with family roots in Kapawe’no First Nation.
