It was cold, and the vodka was gone. Days of glory were even further in the past.

When a washed-up ex-Soviet boxer stumbles into town looking for his next drink, he discovers the sleepy village has been invaded by bears.

We all have to start somewhere, and for me, it was here. Writer Keith Callbeck filled my mind with one glorious idea and I knew it had to be brought to life.

This comic is 26 pages of brush pen and inkwash. There are three words spoken in it’s entirety, and you’d have to read it to find out which. But the silence is intentional - it reflects the wordless man, the sound-sucking snow of the wintery north and forces an intentional reliance of emotive visual acting.

We had wanted our first comic to be a challenge, and despite everything I’ve learnt in the intervening time, the skills I’ve grown, the knowledge I’ve amassed, I am still both fond and proud that we climbed that hill and punched that bear.
